QUALITY ASSESSMENT

Please find below details of change in national tourism policy with regards to quality. The ERTC are following national policy guidelines in giving individual businesses the choice as to whether to become star-rated, but as a company we will be most certainly continuing to promote quality and star ratings in all our marketing materials as part of the ongoing implementation of the'Turning the Tide for Tourism in Torbay' Strategy.

As an Accommodation Business, you have 2 options should you wish to become a quality assessed property:

1) Apply for a National Quality Assessed rating through either VisitEngland (Quality in Tourism) or the AA. This scheme will provide you with a star-rating from 1-5, based on your facilities and service provision.

2) Apply for the basic entry level English Riviera Approved scheme through Quality in Tourism. This will provide with an basic quality stamp, but you will not be star-rated. For current inspection fees: English Riviera Combined Fees Leaflet 12-13.pdf

Visit Devon

The new Devon Tourism Partnership (DTP), replaces Visit Devon from the 1st April and will be made up of senior representatives from: The Dartmoor Partnership, English Riviera Tourism Company, Exeter and the Heart of Devon, North Devon Plus, Visit Plymouth, Visit South Devon and Devon Association of Tourism Attractions (DATA).

 

The DTP will protect and promote the Visit Devon brand and to work together to produce a new Destination Marketing Plan for Devon. Significant efficiencies and an exciting sharing of expertise and new ideas are expected to positively benefit the vitally important Devon tourism economy in this exceptionally difficult economic climate. The ERTC's Chief Executive, Carolyn Custerson has been elected Vice Chair of the Partnership and will therefore be ensuring the English Riviera is well represented both regionally and nationally. Torbay Council

Torbay Council are the ERTC’s key funder and have commissioned the ERTC as an arms length company to lead on marketing the destination, managing the visitor information service and supporting the delivery of the Tourism Strategy. Many of the responsbilities that fall within the council's remit have a direct impact on tourism including arts, culture and events; street scene and overall visitor experience, therefore Torbay Council and the ERTC work together on a number of projects. Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust

The TCCT are a local, independent charity dedicated to looking after some of Torbay's most important wildlife and heritage sites.  They manage 1750 acres of country parks, nature reserves, woodland, farmland and coastline in Torbay, including Berry Head National Nature Reserve, Cockington Country Park, Occombe Farm and the Seashore Centre as well as much of the English Riviera Geopark.

The ERTC and Torbay Coast and Countryside have jointly designed and launched an exciting new programme of Geopark Discovery Packages to include Canoe the Coves, Mussels by Moonlight and Catch and Cook. National Trust

The ERTC work with the National Trust to promote South Devon's property portfolio, including the magnificent Coleton Fishacre Estate and Greenway, famous for being the Holiday Home of Agatha Chrsitie.
